Jewellery haul

Just went shopping and picked up some great jewellery pieces. I’m already in love with this peacock ring and have been wearing it often ๐Ÿ™‚ It actually goes well with my minty polish ๐Ÿ™‚

I also picked up 2 necklaces. One is blue and green with different charms on it and the other is a little more feminine with charms on it too.

ย ย ย ย ย

I also picked up this bangle collection with a heart, bird and pearl charms. The label said Antique Rose. It actually does look quite vintage and feminine. I can see it paired with a feminine dress.

Happy Tuesday to you all and hope that yourย long weekend break has given you the motivation to work harder ๐Ÿ™‚ Hehe at least its aย short week!

Market shopping

Hi all,

I don’t know about you? But I love going to the markets and searching for new treasures. This weekend I was able to go to one of the biggest markets we have in our area. It was extra hot today though so people were selling things fast to get out of the sun!

I picked up these earrings ๐Ÿ™‚

and also the last Harry Potter book – The Deathly Hallows. I have read it before but a long time ago and I’m slowly getting the whole set. Basically brand new – $3 can’t go wrong ๐Ÿ™‚

Happy weekend everyone! Any good markets in your area? Do you go? Any good finds?

NOTD – Minted

Hi all,

It’s nearly Friday ๐Ÿ™‚ At the moment my NOTD is by Sally Hansen – Minted. I bought this over in the US when I went to CVS. Today I’m wearing my shell bracelet – gifted from a friend and this peach colored bead bracelet. I think the colors go really well with each other. Last of all is my heart necklace! I actually bought this from a market and has been a favourite casual necklace for a while! This weekend is Chinese new year! Can’t wait to gorge down food!

Also I just learnt how to make this beaded bracelet from Carrie. The tutorial is from here. It was quite easy to make and fun ๐Ÿ™‚

I adjusted the way I did it because I didn’t have the same materials. I used glass beads which were bigger than the size 8 seeded beads and I used wire instead of waxen linen cord ๐Ÿ™‚

Overall I’m happy with my home made bracelet and layered with other pieces I think it will go well as an added accessory to my collection ๐Ÿ™‚

Will you try it out? Let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

Interview – Carrie from Petal by Petal

Hi All,

It’s time for another interview! Today I have Carrie from Petal by Petal ๐Ÿ™‚ I think I found her blogย roughly around the time when I first started blogging. I liked howย she was on the search forย herย own personal style and she likes toย add random bits and pieces on her blog ๐Ÿ™‚ย So here we go :

1. Tell us what your blog is about and what inspired you to start blogging?

I initially started my blog to help me document my search for personal style. However, I also post about anything I’m interested in, from seasonal obsessions (gingerbread houses!) to personal goals. Reading other style blogs inspired me to start my own.

2. How do you choose what you blog about?

I blog about what interests me, and hope others will find it interesting, too. ๐Ÿ˜‰

3. I like your Try-it-out Tuesday pieces – what is your favourite one so far?
I think my favorite so far is the one featuring my Forever 21 striped skirt. It’s a great addition to my closet, and it was something new for me to pair it with tights. Also, I wanted this skirt for months before purchasing it, so it’s exciting to actually own it. ๐Ÿ™‚

4. What is your favourite piece of jewellery?
Hmmm, tough question … I try to love all of my jewelry equally! ๐Ÿ™‚ I have some pieces that are favorites because they are gifts, and I am reminded of the gift-giver when I wear them. But I suppose I should mention my pearl-and-chain necklace because it’s what I reach for when I want to dress up an outfit.

5. Makeup, shoes, nail polish or bags?
I’ll have to say shoes … although they rarely show up on my blog, haha. ๐Ÿ™‚

ย 6. I have to throw in a random question – what is the scariest thing you have done?
Scariest thing I’ve done is move to California after graduating from college. It was a big move and adjustment but also a wonderful growing experience.

ย 7. What’s your favourite destination to visit?
Seattle is a favorite! But also India for the awesome jewelry and wonderful food.
ย 8. What is on your latest wish/lust list?
Some of the basics – I’m on the hunt for a little black dress, a great-fitting blazer, and an excellent pair of jeans. Oh, and more fun jewelry, of course.
ย 9. What advice do you give new bloggers who are starting out their own blogs?
Be yourself! My latest post stars a plush reindeer. Cool? No. Me? Yes. ๐Ÿ˜€

ย 10. Lastly, tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?
I have been studying the Japanese martial art of aikido for a while and earned my black belt in 2008. I will be testing for the next rank in February, which is both exciting and terrifying.

Thanks so much Carrie for letting me interview you ๐Ÿ™‚ It has been fun ๐Ÿ™‚ Check out her blog ๐Ÿ™‚

For any suggestions on who I should interview next please let me know or if you would like to be featured let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

Ebay items

Hi all,
It has been a restless night for the most of Melbourne due to the weather here. It’s still going to be hot today! Waiting for that cool change tomorrow. For those who have been reading my blog, they will know that I only recently delved into ebay shopping late last year. So just wanted to show a couple of items that I have picked up ๐Ÿ™‚

Owl necklace – I actually really love this and it was super cheap!

Turqoise bangle – this matches a ring that I purchased

3 pcs Korean Style Leather Double Wrap Belt Bracelet Fashion~
Leather bands – these are quite funky and good for small wrists

Similar to Konad stampers – ever since buying a konad set from the US I have been looking for cheap plates/designs and I came across this one for $12.95 which is half price of the original konad stampers and they work equally well.

I did buy a scarf which turned out to be a dud and I got a refund but I haven’t really delved into buying clothes from ebay yet.

Last of all – due to post Boxing day sales there have been items still on sale – picked up this makeup train case with 3 blushes, 2 eye pencils, 2 lip pencils, 4 nail polishes, 4 lipsticks, 4 eye palettes, and a couple of brushes. I haven’t used a lot of them yet but I thinkย this is awesome for people who are delving into makeup for the first time as it has so many things!

Interview with SewPetiteGal

Hi all,

It’s time for another interview ๐Ÿ™‚ Today I will be introducing SewPetiteGal a.k.a SPG. Some bloggers may already know SewPetiteGal for her DIY projects and her fashion OOTDs. Just recently becoming a mum with a little SPG she still manages to do DIY projects which I love – very creative and doable.

So onto the questions :

1. Tell us what your blog is about and what inspired you to start blogging?

I was inspired by both petite and craft blogs. When I first started blogging, I focused most of my craft time on sewing. Specifically, on making clothes inspired by items at my favorite stores. Today, I’ve expanded to jewelry making and knitting (most recently). I also like to share my shopping adventures and get advice on OOTDs.

2. How do you choose what you blog about?

Generally, I post twice a week and try to do one craft-related post and one clothing / shopping-related post. Sometimes I wish I had a more singular focus but then I wouldn’t be true to myself.

3. Your blog has a lot of DIYs which I love – how do you come up with ideas to DIY?

I love online window shopping (Pinterest is wonderful to compile inspirations!) and browsing fashion magazines. Frequently, I’ll feel like taking a DIY approach when something is priced out of my range or I’m feeling particularly crafty that day ๐Ÿ™‚

4. What is your favourite quote?

“Blessed are those who can laugh at themselves, for they shall never cease to be amused.” -Anonymous
This quote reminds me not to take myself so seriously.

5. Makeup, shoes, nail polish or bags?

Definitely bags! They are the only things that I’ll purchase at a retail price.

6. I have to throw in a random question – what is the scariest thing you have done?

Hmm… I went ziplining once and the very last step was to step off of a platform that was 4-5 stories above the ground. That step was quite terrifying but it was also quite a thrill! Going into natural childbirth was also scary but both turned out to be very positive experiences.

7. What’s your favourite destination to visit?

I love Hong Kong for all the food and shopping! I only wish the flight was shorter.

8. What is on your latest wish/lust list?

The Mulberry Alexa is still on my mind but I’m trying not to succumb to temptation. I would also like some kind of red leather handbag but I haven’t found the “one” yet. Maybe a red Mulberry Alexa? ๐Ÿ˜‰

9. What advice do you give new bloggers who are starting out their own blogs?

I think you should always write about your interests / passions. People are most drawn in when you are being authentic.

10. Lastly, tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

I graduated college with 2 Bachelors degrees and 2 minors because I felt like I needed to make the most of my 4 years. In the end, my current career has little to do with anything I studied ๐Ÿ™‚

ย Hope you have enjoyed the interview! I always learn so much more through the interviews. Check her out ๐Ÿ™‚ http://sewpetitegal.blogspot.com/

Anyone else interested in being interviewed let me know ๐Ÿ™‚
