Happy 2nd year blogiversary

Hi all,

I can’t believe I have made it to the 2nd year mark of blogging πŸ™‚


Things I love about blogging :

  • Getting to vent out about every day life
  • Sharing with the world all the beautiful things I see
  • Having a place to talk to other bloggers about similar interests
  • Showing fashion items
  • Having a little space in blog world

Things I don’t love about blogging :

  • Sometimes it takes a lot of time and effort to maintain
  • Sometimes you get writers block

Happy Bday

Happy Birthday lil ol me πŸ™‚ I expected this year’s birthday to be just another day but I have had so many early birthday celebrations and unexpected moments that it definitely has been a birthday to remember πŸ™‚

Mothers day idea

Hi all,

Mother’s day is just around the corner. So what better excuse to bake some cupcakes for your mum πŸ™‚

Sr flour 186 grams
2 eggs
120 g butter
120 g caster sugar
120ml milk

Cream butter and sugar, add eggs one at a time then add sifted flour and milk and you have it! Put them in patty tins and bake for ten to fifteen min at 180c.

For icing: add icing sugar and strawberry food coloring and butter.

Lemon semolina cake

Hi all,

So I really felt like baking and I did as soon as I woke up πŸ™‚ I guess you could call me morning person πŸ™‚
So today I decided to make lemon semolina cake πŸ™‚ initially I wanted to make Nigella’s lemon polenta cake but we had no polenta so I had to resort to this semolina cake πŸ™‚ *Thanks Shinyprettythings for making me crave this!

To make it you will need:

1 cup castor sugar

125 g of butter/margarine

1 Tablespoon lemon rind/orange rind (I didn’t have much lemons so I had to use a bit of orange ;))

2 eggs

2/3 cup of semolina

1 1/2 cups of Self raising flour

1/2 cup of milk

Lemon syrup : 1 cup of castor sugar, 1/2 cup of cold water and 1/4 cup of lemon juice

Preheat oven 180 Degrees.
Cream butter, sugar and lemon rind. Add the 2 eggs one by one. Then add the semolina, SR flour and milk.
Pour into a lined cake tin and bake for approx 35 to 45 min depending on your oven.
Lemon syrup – put the sugar, water and juice and boil over a stove until thickens.
Once the cake is out of the oven, poke all over with a skewer and then pour half of the lemon syrup over it. This will cause the lemon goodness to seep into the holes and into the cake making it moist and delish! πŸ˜‰ and voila you’re done πŸ™‚

Il dolce freddo

Hi all,

I have had some friends come down to Melbourne from New Zealand so a place that we took them out to dinner was on Lygon Street. Lygon Street is famous for their Italian food and is known as Little Italy. They have delicious gelati and cakes as well. We went to Papa Ginos for pizzas and pasta and Brunettis for cakes and later to Il dolce freddo for gelati! They have the best – seriously the best gelati.

So when in Melbourne head down to Lygon street!

Garden wedding

This weekend I was able to attend my relatives wedding. The only thing was the weather was sooooooooo cold! Literally raining! and it was a garden wedding!!! I felt so sorry for the bride to be but she was stunning!! So all of us were shivering in the cold surrounding the gas heater. It was a beautiful wedding. The groom had to choke back tears as he read his vows and later two of their friends serenaded them with their favourite song – Lucky by Jason Mraz. Here are some pics of the venue and her dress.

She had made all these different decorations and the flower girls were gorgeous. Their mum had made their dresses which was very impressive.

After the wedding we all headed to the house which was nearby and ate scones and drank tea because it was soo cold while watching the Grand final game – Go the Cats!

Later the reception was really beautiful as well – very cozy for around 60 people attending so it was a small wedding. There was a photo booth set up so we went crazy on photos! There was fingerfood like springrolls, quiches and chicken skewers and the tables were arranged in countries that the couple would like to head off to. I was on the Belgium table – great architecture and chocolate!

Food was delicious. Started with soup – Pumpkin/coconut or Minestrone, Main was Salmon or the chicken and dessert was chocolate mousse with balsamic vinegar or sticky date pudding.

The wedding cake was made by one of the grooms aunties and it was delicious!! The wedding dance was sweet πŸ™‚

Overall it was a beautiful wedding and all the best to the newly wed couple!! πŸ™‚
