Interview – Thu of Just tututiny

Hi all,

I’m back with another interview.

Today I will be interviewing Thu of Just tutiny. Ever since I stumbled upon her blog I have loved her OOTD and she is informative with the way she words each piece and each trend she wears ๐Ÿ™‚

So onto the questions ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Tell us what your blog is about and what inspired you to start blogging?

My blog is about my day-to-day personal style and my thought process behind choosing each outfit. I love researching about trends and use my blog to share my findings with my readers and blog friends.

My inspiration came from fellow bloggers of course and also because I wanted to have an outlet outside from work, family and school so that I can connect with fashion forward individuals.

2. How do you choose what you blog about?

The focus of my blog is usually on fashion trends and deals & steals. So depending upon what is in style and on sale in a particular season is what I usually blog about.

3. Your blog has a lot of OOTDs which are great inspirations for people. What is your favourite blog to read? Or which blog makes you inspired?

Gosh, there is so many to name, and it obviously changes on a day to day basis because I get new readers that gives me great inspirations and ideas all the time ๐Ÿ™‚ If I had to choose one I would have to say Cupcakes and Cashmere – her website was my very first blog read and I was hooked since then.

(P.s I just checked out this blogger ๐Ÿ™‚ and she has great style :))

4. What is your favourite eye palette?

The only one that I use is Stila in moonlight.

5. Makeup, shoes, nail polish or bags?

6. I have to throw in a random question – what is the scariest thing you have done?

Skiing down Black Diamond, which happens to be the biggest mountain at that particular ski place that we went. It was my very first time on the slopes too, I almost broke my neck!

(Whoa that’s pretty game! haha)

7. What’s your favourite destination to visit?

Toronto – for the exotic fruits that are imported from Thailand.

8. What is on your latest wish/lust list?

A sequin clutch

9. What advice do you give new bloggers who are starting out their own blogs?

Have fun with it. Write about anything you want to and the readers will come. You also don’t have to blog everyday to have a successful blog but just make sure that when you do that you reciprocate and support other bloggers that visit your site.

(I like this advice actually ๐Ÿ™‚ Support other bloggers!)

10. Lastly, tell us something about yourself that most people wouldn’t know?

Well, most people don’t know this but I am a very busy bee: I work full time, attend law school at night, have 2 kids and now am a blogger. Many think I am crazy but I love what I do and will continue to do it because I have made some great blog friends and hope to continue these friendship =)

{Thu with her cute little daughter – can’t get enough of her}

Wow this girl has one busy schedule and still manages to maintain her blog! I definitely give her props for that! Hope you enjoyed reading the interview ๐Ÿ™‚ Oh and her daughter is so cute! She gets featured on her blog with a lot of style and flair ๐Ÿ™‚ She is going to be one stylish kid ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyone else who would like to be interviewed – let me know ๐Ÿ™‚

Boxing day sales

Okay if you have read my previous post, I said I wouldn’t be attending boxing day sales. Okay so I lied.. well I got tempted and failed .. I woke up super early on Boxing day and then went online to see what time shops were opening! Myer was opening at 6.45am and David Jones at 7am so since I was already up I though to myself “What the heck – lets see what Boxing day sales are like” haha

I drove there and got there in time – Myer was already opened so I browsed through. I looked at different dresses but didn’t end up getting any. As I walked around the shopping mall I waited for different shops to open.

Here are some of the items I picked up :

ย For my bro – just a simple top and he loves Tokyo

ย  For my sis – she loves baking!

ย For moi ๐Ÿ™‚ Some cute inexpensive earrings

For those who did attend Boxingย Day sales – what did you pick up? ย

Hi all,

Hopefully you are enjoying your holidays and going somewhere nice and warm and sunny.
This is what it currently looks like in Melb –

Well that’s what I had to encounter last night driving through that storm!

Today is Boxing day! This is where the sales go crazy and shops open at 5am! I will not be joining them this year. Well maybe I will later on in the day but I will not be lining up in this weather to get the sales. I might have to opt to online boxing day sales hehe.

Will you be attending the sales? or opting for online?

Bottled stars

Hello all,
It’s officially holidays here!! Woo hoo ๐Ÿ™‚ So this is a gift idea ๐Ÿ˜‰ May take a little while but I think it’s very cute ๐Ÿ™‚ I got gifted one ages ago. It’s a jar of bottled stars ๐Ÿ™‚

What you will need:

Empty glass bottle

Long paper strips

Stickers for decoration

Patience ๐Ÿ™‚

1. Get long strips of paper at about 1cm width and about 20-30cm long. (You can actually use old wrapping paper and cut into strips or use any colored paper)

2.ย Makeย a flat knot at the end to start the star. Should look something like this.

3. Proceed toย fold the paper around the edges of the the hexagon shape. It should go naturally and cover the whole shape.

4. With that last piece of paper – tuck it into one of the edges.

5. Time to make the star – pinch the corners together

ย =

6. Do that with all corners to make the star.

7. Put the stars in a jar and decorate the jar! Hey presto – you have a cute decorative gift ๐Ÿ™‚

Let me know if you give this a go ๐Ÿ™‚ Happy holidays everyone!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Holiday nails

Just a quick NOTD. I have been loving glitter on the nails lately. Maybe because its the holiday season! I can’t wait for holidays ๐Ÿ™‚ No one can focus at work ๐Ÿ™‚

I used Sally Hansen’s crackle polish in silver as the base coat and topped it with Wet n wild sparkly nail polish and then topped that with konad prints in white stars.

Just trying to shop at the shopping centre is chaos here! Everyone doing last minute shopping and the queues are ridiculous! Plus shopping hours have extended to 9 and 10pm!

Soon it will be Boxing Day sales! Will anyone brace that day’s chaos and try to get some bargains??

Dark chocolate cookies

Hi all,

On the weekend I did some more baking! Probably needed a sugar kick/lift ๐Ÿ™‚ So I made these dark chocolate cookies but shaped them into gingerbread shapes and then iced them ๐Ÿ™‚

What you will need:
2 cups of plain flour
4 Tablespoons of cocoa powder
1/2 tsp of baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup unsalted butter – melted (I used margarine)
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 TBsp of vanilla essence/extract
1 egg
1 egg yolk

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees F or 165 degrees C. Sift the flour, baking soda, cocoa powder and salt together.

2. In another bowl, combine the butter, sugar – white and brown and mix well. Add the vanilla essence and egg and egg yolk

ย + ย =
3. Combine the wet mixture with the dry mixture and voila cookie dough ๐Ÿ™‚

So this is optional – if you love your chocolate you can add choc chips into the mix or any other berries – cranberries, sultanas etc

I left it plain and started shaping my dough into gingerbread and other shapes.

Put in the oven for about 13 minutes – check at about 10 just in case your oven heats up quickly.

Let it cool on a wire rack and then you can ice them or decorate them ๐Ÿ™‚
Delish! They taste great with a glass of milk! ๐Ÿ™‚

Sequins and teppanyaki!

Lots of sequined items have been popping up in stores lately so I decided to try some on and then ponder later whether or not if I will purchase them ๐Ÿ™‚ These were from a store called Temp

First I tried on this black dress that was pleated down the bottom and flared out. It had also detailing in the top half of the dress. It was pretty but I just need to think about it.

Next I tried on various sequined tops. The first one had sparse sequins here and there and I didn’t like the material – made me itchy. The next two were my favourites – I tried one that was cream colored and another that was black. Which do you guys prefer? I’m not sure yet..

ย ย

Later we had teppanyaki for my cousins birthday. It was my first time going and it was so hilarious trying toย catch food in our mouths and not get rice and egg everywhere!

ย ย

She had to wear a kimono and had a samurai sword to cut her cake. The table next to us had a guy who had the same bday and he came out wearing a sumo suit! It was hilarious! Definitely a great place to have a bday!!

Have you guys tried Teppanyaki? What about the sequin trend?

p.s I’m entering the following giveawayย

OOTD and macarons

Hello everyone,

Just a quick OOTD before I head out. Today was forecasted to be top of 30 but late thunderstorm so I wore this :

Wearing maxi dress Temp and over the top Just jeans flower top (sorry for the dark pic)

On another note look at these cute macarons my Sis made! aren’t they adorable??

And on another food related note – I ate at Mezza Lebanese restaurant. The food was delish and they had belly dancers! haha

Don’t ask me how we finished most of the food? haha It was delicious though! It was funny how the waiters couldn’t really speak english too – so you knew it was authentic haha. Overall a great experience!

Happy weekend everyone!
